The SHARE (Scholars in HIV/AIDS Research Education) Program

What is the SHARE Program?

The SHARE (Scholars in HIV/AIDS Research Education) program is a 10-week paid summer internship that offers training, mentoring, and hands-on research experience for current or recently graduated undergraduate students. SHARE aims to enable undergraduate students to attain advanced education in behavioral-social science research of HIV and substance use disorders, especially those who have an interest in the Latino community.

Program Highlights

  • Gain hands-on experience conducting a research project on a topic in HIV/AIDS and substance use disorders (SUD)                 
  • Acquire knowledge through lectures and seminars in academic areas to enhance knowledge of topics and methods used in research and HIV/SUD-related topics (e.g., HIV prevention, social determinants of health)
  • Develop skills in research, networking, and career development
  • Participate in workshops and seminars led by internationally recognized experts in HIV/AIDS, mental health, and substance use research
  • Explore career options in scientific research and practice in public health and social and behavioral sciences.
